Don’t talk if there’s nothing to talk about. It’ll only come off as desperate.
But check in a couple of days before, saying you’re looking forward to it and confirming the time and place. If it organically turns into a conversation again, great.

I’d say don’t force conversation, let it come naturally. The way I see it, if you’re looking for a relationship they should be easy to talk to anyway.
Yes, you need to keep talking to her or she would assume you’re ghosting her. Tell her about things that happen during the day. If you’re watching the new season of Orange is the New Black, ask her if she’s seen it. If you go to the beach, ask her what her favorite local beach is.
