Dating : Moving On.

It’s hard but not impossible.

We come across so many people in our lives. Some pass by quietly and some leave a deep impression of themselves. Sometimes we blame others for the suffering inside us but the truth is, it’s us who are hurting ourselves by thinking about someone who’s gone forever.

We, humans, are simple creatures. We try to protect what we love. Over time, we create deeper bonds with the people around us. We tend to visualize our lives around people we love. It’s a beautiful feeling to be in love with someone and we, go far lengths to protect our love.

Our loved ones often fill up the blank spaces inside us. They fill these empty spaces with beautiful memories and blissful experiences. Soon, we tend to believe that there won’t be anyone better than them to fill up these spaces. But when they leave us, we find ourselves incapable of finding someone who can help us to fill these gaps. The notion of irreplaceability is what hurts us the most.

We can’t imagine ourselves alone trying to deal with the blank spaces inside us. It’s grateful to have someone to love. This feeling of gratefulness is hard to achieve when you are all alone.

Replacing is healing on its own. We must realize that there are so many other people who can treat us in a better way for what we are.

Replacing is not only helpful with the people around us but also with the feelings inside us. It helps us to let go of the pain and anger associated with losing someone we loved so much.

For example, a couple’s first child was diagnosed with cancer when he was one year old. They went for several screenings and appointments with different surgeons but never received any positive outcome. Finally, they met a surgeon who told them if he didn’t return within three hours of the surgery, they would have to say goodbye to their beautiful baby forever. Those three hours were the hardest time for someone who can imagine. Unfortunately, they lost their first baby. They never thought someone else could replace the baby’s space. But it was after a year later, that they adopted a child that changed it all for them. The child was like a magic pill who changed their lives for better. They were finally able to replace and remove their painful feelings regarding having a child.

1) The first step is to try to let go of the pain of the loss. It is a slow and meandering process of healing. It requires patience and trust to take a step towards betterment.

2) Sharing our feelings with others helps us to reduce the painful burden from our hearts. But in this process, we need to be careful not to be tempted to force the other person to fill up the left blank space.

3) It’s the best time to be self-aware and self-focused in our lives. We are made up of our choices. So making better choices will help us to be happier with ourselves.

4) Forgiveness– If you have experienced heartbreak because of a bad breakup, one of the best things you can do is to forgive your partner. Because no matter what they did, forgiving them helps you to live peacefully with yourself. It’ll help you to start loving yourself again and help you to be happier. Also, you’ll be able to gain the self-respect that you lost.

5) Learn from the mistakes– It’s essential to learn from the mistakes we did in the past to become a better version of ourselves in the present.

It’s going to be difficult. Sometimes, it’s going to be lonely. But Moving On will help us to live peacefully with ourselves.
