POF : Is there any way to avoid messaging members who haven’t been active in months (or years) without paying?
It’s been almost a year since I’ve been on POF but I’m reluctant because last time I caved and paid for the premium membership and found out that the majority of people I had messaged had been inactive for some time. There’s no way I’m paying again because all that did was get me inundated with scammers but I’m wondering if there’s a section (like maybe their suggested matches?) that actually shows relatively active members? Now that OKC has gone the weird route they have with messages POF is pretty much it for free apps that let you message without matching first but I don’t really want to waste all the time and effort sending messages to people who haven’t been active for months or years

Make that member a “Favorite”. Sometimes, that will prompt them to look at your profile. As long as they don’t have the “Let other users know that I viewed their profile” setting turned “Off”, they’ll show up in your “Viewed Me” list.
Not foolproof by any means, but it might help determine if a member you’re interested in is still active.
I met my fiancee on POF. I found her in the section titled « will respond ». Granted it was a long shot, because she would get 75 to 100 messages a day, but that’s where you have to stand out from the crowd. I have never paid a penny for pof, and I’ve met 4 women there, slept with 3, dated 2, engaged one, and the one I never slept with or dated has been an awesome friend and weed connect for a year now.
