POF : can you reply to someone who has THEIR message setting incorrect?

If someones profile says they are looking for a man but at the bottom of the page it says you must be a female to message her can I reply if she messages me first?

I assume she accidentally set the message preferences to must be female to message her.

So I wonder if no men can message her, can they reply if she writes a guy first.
