Maybe She Was Stalking Me?

If you’ll recall my last episode with k.d.lang, I had thrown myself at her feet at a restaurant to offer my services as a back up singer. Obviously, k.d. did not take me up on my offer, but that’s the way it goes in glamorous Los Angeles. Dreams don’t always come true.

A few years later, I had another opportunity with her.

In the mid-Wilshire area, there are many Korean spas, offering all types of beauty treatments. Inside, you can gleefully parade around naked with a fair amount of anonymity, utilizing the baths, steam rooms, and saunas, or getting a variety of beauty treatments.

Most of the women are older, and don’t care about appearances. It’s like a fashion show of cesarean sections. Don’t bother wearing designer undergarments, because there, modesty goes out the window. Just bring your ratty self and enjoy the day.

That day, we had both received a vigorous massage from women wearing a little more than bras and underwear. Perhaps this is why k.d. frequented this place as well. Hey, it’s a cheap thrill.

While waiting for our car, I was still delirious from my spa treatment when my partner Erika motioned to me that k.d. was standing nearby. Most people look like shit after a massage. She was no exception.

Maybe she was finally stalking me, and not the other way around?

This time, we decided not to bother her. What celebrity would want to be approached after being gently fondled by a stranger?

We just looked at each other and nodded, as she drove away in her expensive European car, her greasy hair creating a level playing field for the rest of us.
