She asked it regularly, ‘What are you thinking?’ And always with that awful pout.

Every time his eyes left the screen, ‘What are you thinking?’

The match was in extra time, and he looked at his watch.

She caught his eye, ‘What are you thinking?’

He supposed she was expecting some declaration of undying love. There had to be an outlet.

‘What are you…’

‘Well, honestly, I’m thinking about having dirty sex with your mother and your sister, on that chair you’re sitting on.’

He could hear her emptying her few things from the drawer.
