Dating : An Idiot’s guide to Mansplaining

Men’s worst nightmare is a woman dominating them in speech and ideas in a conversation. How do you get out of it? By putting them in their place and holding on to your beliefs steadfastly.

For example, I once told a first date that I did not want children. I explained about overpopulation and bringing children into the world with limited resources and severe challenges of overcrowding. He refused to buy it and blatantly told me to admit that I was making up excuses for having low pain threshold in childbirth. I was stunned and speechless. I was mad and yet I moved on to another topic without resolving this disagreement as I was afraid of a confrontation.

Men always excel at confrontations but women dread them and hence, we always lose them. The best way to overcome a disagreement is to stay calm and list your points succinctly. If the man continues to offended and raises his voice, walk away or leave the table. You do not deserve to be with such an insecure man who cannot handle failure or take props in order to improve himself.

If a man puts you down in the process, tell him he is wrong and something along the lines of he has poor understanding of the subject. If he can put you down, so can you. The only difference is that you do it in a more decent manner.

In my situation, what I could have done is to tell him that he is wrong and he has no understanding of a woman’s biology. Not all women wish to procreate and that is okay. If he wanted to be with someone to procreate, we could just call it a night and arrange for individual takeaways. If he cannot respect a woman’s choices, he does not deserve a choice either and the ball is in your court to call it a night. Call out his mansplaining and don’t let him have the satisfaction of winning a subject matter that you are more adept in.

..Or you can always just laugh them off, be sarcastic and make them feel stupid. Chances are, he will be the one to walk away after that.
