h2>Dating : Different but Same

you were different yet
the same (it still bothers),
just like a star amongst a
gazillion others;
you had your own light,
illuminated and casting spells,
but the city was already too shiny that night;
when you came wearing a shining armour —
golden cuff bracelets and loose hair,
movie stills (and pot flowers)
became beautiful to me,
but when I realized this jazz ain’t real,
the convulsions laid me bare;
the backyard promises (which you never meant) we made,
the whispered convos we had,
the evenings in the balcony planning an escapade;
all comes rushing back to me,
as if you were there
but wasn’t actually (you know);
the truth was a blur waiting
to be busted,
like the kind we get on the windshield
after rains;
and the slippery empty road
a semblance of void where
nothing but sadness remains;
so it took a while to grasp (yeah),
if we are born with a weakness
to fall,
we also have the strength to get up,
in the end of it all.
