HOUSE OF ANUBIS
The scale of Justice tipped toward the heart. The pupils of the young woman dilated with fear. Her voice started to quake as her feet took a few steps backward. Before she could mutter her plea, her soul was devoured by Ammit who appeared in a cloud of smoke and receded into nowhere.
Silence enveloped the crowd. Sobs escaped the lips of some who already knew their fate but were hoping against hope.
“You may step into the circle!” Anpu thundered across the vast nothingness, pointing the staff of Rameses to the recently vacated space. The Lifeless Ones in raven shaped cloaks, seated as a counsel of three looked on with inhuman eyes. The wisp of their essence was balanced as wind trapped in an hourglass.
From the long queue, Azizi trudged his way confidently and stepped into the circle. The ornament wrapped around his left arm, unhinged itself and floated to the scale hanging before the Lifeless Ones to his far right. The weight bore down and tipped it toward the feather. Anpu beckoned toward Azizi, who smirked at the people behind him, and led him off to the Path of Worthy Existence.
