A poem

Everybody wants me to know
That I was really missed
It was in the air today
One particle gone astray
These protons off kilter
Guess they got a little lost
Between summer and winter
Turn up the lights I can’t see a damn thing!
Damned thing
That I am
I wish I was a postman
I’d bring the love you seek
With bags full of letters
Letters that made up words
Words I wouldn’t choke on
If only I could breathe
Hold on
I’m in the moment
Talking down a string
Plastic cup tightly wound
No number finds me here
Falling trees don’t make a sound
Am I trying too hard to be different?
Do I try hard enough to hide my indifference?
Join me on this roof
In the darkened afternoon
And let us watch the sultry moon
The way it hangs, the way it dips
Mimicking the lunar crease
That sits below your lips
