Sonnet 1: The Colossus
Aflame, I walk towards your lovely gaze.
I dream and scream until I feel quite hoarse.
You watch me burn and keep watching, unphased.
I am mere steps away, charring, of course.
Sunlight drips from my lips as I murmur.
I have taken your traits, I want to glow.
You are my sun, and I display fervor.
Laughter dribbles from kind lips, a light “Oh?”.
I beam and flare white, bright supernova.
Can you see you in me, a mere dwarf star?
You are a colossus, and you say, “It’s over.”
Efforts amount to naught, forever marred.
All that remains aren’t even cinders.
You keep poking, but you’ve burnt the tinder.
