POF : Changes in POF…
I was on POF a few years ago and just came back to it. Totally different site! I have a couple questions as to how features work.
I wrote a message to a guy that seemed interesting. I can see he viewed my profile from the notification bell thing and sent me a meetme thing. I can’t use meetme (seems it is a paid feature?) What is the benefit to sending me a meetme thing versus replying to my message? Can everyone see messages or maybe does he just see I viewed his profile?
I am not clear on what you can do for free – what people see if they don’t have paid memberships. Can you still message back and forth?
Also within about 15 minutes of signing back in, I had 6 messages from guys that were not in my local area and who didn’t view my profile (if the viewing thing where I can see the last 3 who viewed me is accurate). They all send similar hey or what’s up or want to chat type messages. Are these bots are just random guys online messaging any female who signs in?

Bots and they can only see that you viewed their profile if you allow it in your mail settings. Bots or not, if a guy can’t invest more then hey hi what’s up … next lol
The site is now complete trash!! It’s total garbage and has been rigged to get you to pay to receive hits from some of the most hideous people on the planet. Any of the decent looking prospects are Bots, Scammers, Whores, and outright Liars!!!

I’m a paid POF member and it’s frustrating because I can see if a person viewed my profile or read my message or liked me. Sometimes a person will view my profile, but not read my message. Like me, but not read or respond to my message I sent after I saw they liked me.
Also, most of my matches are outside my area. I don’t think they even really are true matches. Just random list of women. Recently, I tried messaging one of my matches and I was informed that she was looking for a different kind of person and I should try messaging one of my matches.
I hate it when I’ve written a lengthy message and I get that « She’s looking for someone else… » message. Or I’ve been blocked.
Or scammer profiles that look real. I sent a message to a woman who seemed really interesting. She had a number of photos and a well written profile. She didn’t respond for a few days, but when she did it, she was trying to get me to go to a sex website. I was so disappointed!
Anyway, online dating comes with a lot of challenges and disappointments. I’ve been fairly successful at meeting women and forming relationships from online dating. But, there have been a lot of disappointments. Ghosting, blocking, catfishing etc. It really hurts when you get attached to someone online and it suddenly ends for no apparent reason or the person isn’t interested in meeting or is misrepresenting themselves. But, that’s the way online dating is.
Despite those setbacks, you keep on hoping you’re able to find someone.
