POF : No idea what’s going on with this App.

POF : No idea what’s going on with this App.

I really don’t understand this app at all. Every time I get a message off anyone I go to reply and discover their profile doesn’t exist. This can be literally like 5-10 minutes after they sent a message. The whole app just feels sketchy.

  1. I once paid for a subscription to see who viewed and liked me, nothing. Once I ended my subscription, I miraculously started to receive likes and people viewing me. I’m almost certain the creators of this app are just scam artists like the many fake profiles on there. I’d get more use throwing my money away on strippers, at least I know they’re actually real…sorta.

  2. I was right about to ask this same thing. For me, it is not even 5-10mins. Most of the time, it is instantaneous. For example, as soon as I receive the notification and tap the profile, I receive the message, « Sorry, this profile is no longer available, even for upgraded members. » This happens 75% of the time. I’ve heard many different explanations, from bots luring you to a paysite, to women blocking you instantly for not responding quick enough, to POF being the scammers. I find it all questionable.

For example, if POF is the scammer, then why does the profile get deleted before I even get a chance to be lured? If true, then they’re not good scammers.

If it’s women blocking you because you didn’t respond quick enough, then it illustrates some absurd thinking, imo. We’ve all heard the saying that a woman will decide if she’ll date you in the first few seconds of meeting you. If this is an actual « rule of thumb, » then the world is screwed up even more than I thought.

If these are bots trying to lure me to a paysite, then I kind of want to learn computer programming to see how it actually works. Like, will I see a cursor navigating the webpage and automatically clicking the correct buttons for registering, verifying an email, uploading a picture, etc., etc.? Perhaps it is some code that manipulates the webpage internally or in the background. Either way, knowing how it works would make this option easier to believe.

As long as I have the time, I will be pondering these ideas, but I’d much rather have POF demonstrate what is happening. It’d save everyone a lot of time.

  3. Cheers, it honestly seems so sketchy right from the get go. I had a few likes/messages from accounts not with obvious bot pics I mean you can tell them a mile off, but even the account I was convinced was a person disappeared. I mean the most obvious was receiving likes from the same picture and username with a different number. Sticking to tinder least the matches I get on there are actual people. Being a guy on any dating site is definitely playing it on the harder difficulty setting haha
