  1. If your profile is new, hide it for a few days, then unhide it. Bots target new accts mostly.

Otherwise, just hide your acct and search for people you might be interested in and message them.

  2. I really want to start a dating site that

    a. Actually has a purpose with being a free site. So you CAN read up to 5 free messages a day, and maybe can only swipe YES on up to 10 people a day. A lot of these free memberships have no functionality apart from looking at profiles. And then the dodgy sites try to get you in by flooding you with messages from bots that you need to pay and subscribe to read. Madness.

    b. Vets the bots as much as possible. E.g. a question at the profile set-up stage, an IP address if reported 3 times in a year or something, must have a picture, if possible that is reverse image searched, etc. Give all profiles a monthly question (with the answer supplied) that they have to answer into a textbox. The words « snapchat », « kik », « whatsapp » are used in a profile thats a warning. Sure, they’ll use characters within like « s > n > a > p > c > h > a > t »… idk, maybe if multiple symbols occur in a 50 character range thats a red flag.

    c. Paying a subscription gives you unlimited swipes, unlimited messages, plus other incentives.

Sure… your numbers might look weak because you’re not flooded with bots. But imagine… a dating site where you can actually attempt to meet someone. If it works then people will promote it with word of mouth and positive reviews. I’ve used and tested a number of dating websites (and the naughtier ones too) and they’re all crap. A simple elegant solution would shake up the market.

Heck if anyone wants to work on it with me… just let me know.

  3. There was a time in the not too distant past where it had been 90% bots, and then they added phone number verification. BAM, complete bot purge just like that, and it became nice. It’s a shame to see they’ve reintroduced all the problems.

  4. I’m a guy and I gave up on it as soon as they introduced that phone number verification.

Sure I want a girlfriend, but I prefer not to give my information to that site.
