h2>Dating : I Did Not Know and I Did Know
A Love Poem for my Beloved
When I met you
sitting across from you in your office on the lake
doors flung wide to invite
the luscious spring day
to join us
I did not know
and
I did know
that my life would never be the same.
That moment
when my spirit recognized you
wide eyed with astonishment –
there you are!
the one I have been looking for
that was when the frozen plates
began to rumble –
the seismic shift
the breaking free.
Once the energy was behind
those great slabs –
put in place to shield my heart-
the world would never look the same.
Possibility
strewn across the landscape of my soul
like boulders left behind
from the tectonic force of our meeting.
From the yawning cracks
and fissures
grew trees of hope
whose roots found the nourishment
of courage.
I did not know
and
I did know
that my life would never be the same.
Now, as I look at you
concentrating on your book
looking like the archangel of intellect
a halo of light around your head
I still feel the rumble.
My spirit is still wide-eyed with astonishment.
You are here and I am here.
I did not know
and
I did know
that life would never be the same.
And it is so good.
