This rings the truth bell, but is tricky too… my partner is dealing with very real issues (both deep-seated and circumstantial) that she says prevent her from being emotionally present or committed in our relationship. Should I “see her” and respect that she’s working through things I can’t fully grasp or help with, give her space, not take it personally (“stop conflating her emotional availability with her desire to be with me”), OR is this the definition of someone only loving when it suits their needs, a sign of a permanent pattern?
