Well said, Joe. You got to the heart of the matter, I believe. I also believe that many people don’t know who they are. They don’t understand their values, their genuine interests, their skills, etc. They’ve been saying and doing what it seems others do in order to fit in, to “succeed.” If this is true, then being yourself could seem like useless advice. Who am I, in this world that demands authenticity and conformity? Answering that question is not easy after decades of practice in the opposite direction.
