h2>Dating : Tale of A Smart Dude

Once upon a time, in a near away land🙄, lived a struggling dude whom most people saw as smart. He had a caring mother and a loving father who supported him in any way they could.
They encouraged and taught him to believe in his strength yet he struggled. His termly results showed that math was slapping the hell outta him.
So mama thought🤔 ” I can’t be here while my son is going through hell. Let’s hire a tutor for him”. Dude’s dad gave his blessings and dude also accepted. In an attempt to make sure he got the best, she hired the most expensive tutor that was recommended to her by colleagues. She paid by the hour for the home tutor to come around and transform his son into a math genius. Dude on the other hand also understood the financial ordeal he was putting dear mama through and made a promise to himself to learn as much as he could. And so, the lesson began.
For weeks, the dude had lessons with this strict tutor who gave him massive assignments after each encounter. Dude solved exercise after exercise. He completed many chapters in his math textbook. Dude was learning. Dude was happy. Dude was regaining his confidence. Dude was grateful
Finally, lessons were over, back-breaking bill paid and dude went back to school. Dude attended a boarding school en passant. Prior to the holiday, dude missed some exams due to ill health and failed to make the A-list thereby missing a spot in the science A class. This was a terrible event but dude failed to see it that way. He has always felt out of place in the A-class. He assumed that if he was put in a class with less competition, he would fare better. But that was far from reality.
He was pushed down to Science-B where he expected to find like-minded individuals. Instead, he was met with groupies with no interest in studies. Most of them saw him as the smart A-class dude who would supply them during exams. The few amongst them who were interested in studying also had a deadly competitive mindset where the goal is to drag down anyone they perceived as a threat to their callous ambition. So dude cancelled out any idea that involved linking up with them.
Local-man was practically left all on his own. The little friends he had were all in his former class. What he had here was just groupies and so he wallowed in pride and misguided feeling of being a god among mortals. He relaxed and failed to continue solving the damn math. He thought he had arrived🤠
As Confucius said, “If you are the smartest person in the room, then you are in the wrong room.
Weeks turned to months and finally, exam came knocking. Dude went in like rest and wrote what he thought was the answer to questions served. For most subjects, he was right but the case was totally different in math. To make matters worse, Dude’s classmate was hailing him as he went to collect his result. All thought he was at the top including him. Imagine the shock that greeted his physiognomy when he opened the result sheet. He was not prepared for what he saw at all.😒
He failed math!!! Of all the subjects, he flunked the most important. Dude experienced a whirlwind of emotions. He has broken mama’s heart. That, he could never forgive himself for. He was a failure and his actions will hurt mama. He needed no prophet to tell him that. So with a face full of shame, he went home and presented his nasty result sheet to his parents.
With a face full of sadness and disappointment, mama lashed out at him. Dude knew he deserved it and more. He is a disappointment. At that moment, he realized, he was just the smartest fool in his class and he paid the price with a pound of flesh. His very own flesh😓 He paid in full.
Dude was so hurt that he swore, not to learn math😏(he sincerely hated that subject for bringing sadness to mama through him) but to never fail that subject. He was going to ace it from that day onwards by any means necessary. The first move was getting the hell out of that mediocre class and you bet he sure did. He realized the need for healthy competition and the pitfall of praise singers. Science-A had its woes too but he was better off there than anywhere else. For a start, he had friends there. He learned to not be the smartest in the room, for that is surely the wrong room.
