Have you ever been with someone whose kissing actually turns you off? Unfortunately, I have been with my share of bad kissers and in my opinion, kissing is not something that can be taught or even improved upon. Kissing is what it is…it is bad…it is good…or, as I learned from meeting the love of my life, it is great.

After 40-ish years of kissing, I assumed I knew it all and had been introduced to every kind of kissing there was. Surprisingly and thankfully, I was wrong. The last first kiss of my life was beyond anything I could have ever imagined. It was…and still is…the gatekeeper to everything wonderful.

I never knew that kissing could activate not only my body, but my heart and mind, as well. Kissing the love of my life is a form of mindfulness for me…it literally and instantly brings me to the here and now. I am never more aware and present of every feeling, every scent, every taste, and every part of my being as I am than when I am kissing him.

Just as some believe that two people were meant to be together, I truly believe our lips and tongue were destined to find each other. Although every beautiful aspect of his lips and mouth meld every so perfectly with mine, there is something magical about our kissing.

To be clear, I am head-over-heels in love. We share a level of intimacy that I have never shared with anyone and our sex life is off the charts. It’s amazing, exciting, and keeps getting better…even after 13 years. However, I am convinced that it is our kissing that makes every aspect of our relationship that much better.

Bad kissing is a complete turn-off and good kissing will only take a relationship so far. Great kissing can make a person feel like they are the only person in the room…like they are the only person that matters…and like two people simply cannot get close enough to each other.

Even though we don’t always have sex when we’re together, we ALWAYS engage in kissing. When we do have sex, it is always preceded by great kissing and that lasts the entire time. In between the times when we don’t have the opportunity to be together sexually, the kissing helps to hold us over. Great kissing is everything!

None of us ever intends to settle for less than what we deserve when it comes to relationships. Like most people, I grew up thinking there were good kissers and bad kissers. I tried seeking out the good kissers, but even they couldn’t keep my interest for long.
