  1. OP here: So I thought I would share this for anyone interested. I checked POF last month and found it would not let me sigh in. No biggie, that happens. I try my username and password. No dice. So I assumed I had forgotten the password and go through the process to change it.

When I was finally able to log in, I saw that all but one of my pics had been deleted. All my personal info was changed. And the About Me section was for a different person. So I knew I had been hacked. Oh well! I changed the password on them, right? I changed everything back to my information and went on with living.

A week later, same thing. Can’t log in. So I try to change the password again. This time it wants to send a verification code to my phone number on file. Oops! Their number on file is not my number. Never has been. Can’t change it without calling them.

So I check their site. It says if your account is hacked, you should contact them and they will have to close it. So I send a message through the site.

A week later, I got the response. They closed my account. But wait, I was one of the few paying members. What happens to my membership? Surely they will take care of me since I’m paying their bills, right?

Nope. In their email they made it clear that any billing issues is Apple, not them. They provided a nice link to be able to do it. Unfortunately when you go through Apple they say you should request a refund and then get a new membership. Ok. Fine. I select that and add the explanation. Automatic rejection. Not allowed.

I’m not going to mess with it farther because I only had a few months left on it. But damn POF. I would think the paying members would get some kind of service. I’ll never pay again. It wasn’t really worth it to begin with.

I want to get off the platform completely. Obviously finally getting a long-term relationship would be nice too. The bots and scammers are out of control. I’ve complained every time they ask for comments. But unfortunately, POF is also the platform I’ve had the most luck with in getting dates. So I have to stay…

  2. ….why would you pay for an app like POF? The only app I’ve ever paid for was Tinder. It’s safer and way more reliable. POF is pretty run-down
