Dating : Why Sex In The 90's Was Better Than Today

h2>Dating : Why Sex In The 90's Was Better Than Today

Scrunchies, Boys II Men, and summer. That’s the rough draft of the 90s. Before the Internet took over, and before Becky could text Sandra that Joe was horrible in bed – before your sex life became the free Saturday news drop-off. Sex was summer lovin on a Saturday night, hooking up at a house party with a landline and being wooed at the local swimming pool. It was raw and honest. Nobody cared about how it made them look to the rest of the world. We had means of spreading the word, but not in a sense where photos, messages, video, etc. was openly spread throughout the globe.

I remember having sex for the first time. No app matched me with this guy, just a hot conversation over MTV. We shared a few sour warheads and made advances at each other. I told him I would meet him at the creek (when kids still played outside), and I agreed to sneak a water bottle filled with vodka if he brought some smokes. When we met up, there was no interference. No distracting cell phones, no Netflix and chilling, and no need to go and stalk their social media to make sure he didn’t like other girls’ photos. We just had raw, dirt sticking to our bodies, sweaty 90-degree summer sex. And it was epic.

Why was sex better than it is today? Because today, if I have sex with a man and we break up, he could potentially ruin me by spreading my photos and private information through the matrix, aka, social media. The good ole internet. Men and women could have sex and not worry about the horrible repercussions we face today. Sure, you could have spread rumors, shared a few blurry polaroid shots, or what have you, but there wasn’t really a way to entirely exploit someone in an easy way like today.

I didn’t wake up to dick pics; and men didn’t struggle to wonder if Samantha is real or a Russian bot.

Porn wasn’t lurking at every corner begging for you $9.99 for unlimited twin sex; we didn’t open a library book, and BAM! An ad for swiss army dildos with a can opener attached spamming each page.

When we wanted to have random sex, we did so and didn’t worry about who they were because they couldn’t hide behind the mask that is social media. The talk of the town told us if he/she was sleeping with others or not.

Sex today might as well be an open invitation. If you have sex with a stranger, you risk being exploited or scammed on a level that far exceeds the chances of that happening in the 90s.

Do you remember sex in the 90s?

I 100% think that sex back then was fueled by R&B, summer nights, and having tangible conversations that led to raw and hot passion. That still happens today, in between texting, social media, worrying about your status on Instagram, making sure the world knows who you’re about to bone (unless they have less than 10k followers, don’t sleep with them!)

Sex today has expanded since the 90s for sure. Anal isn’t taboo, LGBTQ isn’t forbidden, women and men are sexually explosive! But, the thing that makes sex better in the 90s is the fact that it was between us, not the entire world. No social distractions, no palpable material that could be used against us should we happen to argue, we were free.

And, the music was much sexier.
