Two things stand out about the first Spider-Man: Far From Home trailer that dropped Wednesday.
First: Hey, Tom Holland is alive after his Spidey seemingly turned into a cloud of dust after Avengers: Infinity War! (Thanks, Thanos.) We’re probably going to have wait for Avengers: Endgame (in theatres April 24) to see how all the timelines and such shake out in Far From Home (July 4).
Gyllenhaal plays the mysterious Mysterio in the sequel to 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, which takes Peter Parker (Holland), love interest MJ (Zendaya), best friend Ned (Jacob Batalon) and their high-school pals to Europe. While there, Peter is visited by Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson) to help out with a situation involving various elemental creatures attacking cities.
At the end of the new trailer, we see Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio fly in and start blasting a gigantic water dude, giving Peter an unwanted shower in the process. One of the hero’s pals likens Mysterio to a combo of Iron Man and Thor.
