The outbreak of Coronavirus threw a serious and unexpected wrench in all of our plans. With the emergence of the first cases, we began returning home and exchanging our social lives for Netflix. However, now more than ever, we see how important it is to stay connected with one another — and that includes in our romantic lives. So whether you’re stuck at home with a significant other, single ready to mingle, or have just started seeing someone new, here are some tips for how to win at the dating game during Corona.

1) Take your time…. it’s a marathon, not a sprint.

Until a few weeks ago, we could Crush with someone on Happn one day and meet them in person the next. In these times of social distancing, however, things move a bit slower. Use this extra time to really get to know your potential suitors. Let those pre-first date conversations that might evolve over the coming weeks, show you which people you truly want to spend time with in your post-stay-at-home life.

2) Use p̶r̶o̶t̶e̶c̶t̶i̶o̶n̶precaution

Although Coronavirus is not sexually transmitted, it can be transmitted easily through even just breathing. If you already have a sexual partner, make sure you’re certain he or she is unlikely to have the virus before continuing intimacy. If you’ve just met someone new, however, it may be wise to get down and dirty from afar. Lucky for you, there are many ways to stay close in touch without touching. 😉 These new experiences could even invigorate your love life when back together.

3) Do NOT text your ex!

If you’re bored at home, missing flirtation and craving attention, do NOT under any circumstances use it as an excuse to open the ex files. It may feel good in the moment (especially if fueled by a little wine ;)) but that’s where the fun ends. Remind yourself of why you broke up and find someone new to flirt with on Happn instead. You’ll thank yourself the next day, we promise.

4) Give long distance a shot.

If you’ve started dating someone new but aren’t official yet, don’t let staying at home stop you from getting there! Long distance relationships can — and DO — work. They’re even a way to test if a relationship can survive long term, because they force you to focus on your emotional connection without distraction from the physical one. Nowadays, we need this sort of emotional bond more than ever because romance, even if temporarily digital, is one of the biggest boosters in our psychology. So if things are going well, we can’t think of a better time to take that next step.

5) Focus on YOU.

If the digital age has given us anything, it’s an escape. We can escape our thoughts by watching funny Youtube videos, or loneliness by tuning in with thousands of others to an Instagram Live. But if we’re always escaping, we aren’t learning how to simply spend time with ourselves, even when it’s uncomfortable. Although this time of isolation is difficult, we can seize it as an opportunity to focus back on ourselves without distraction. Because remember, happiness starts from within and alone doesn’t have to mean lonely. We aren’t saying you have to fall in love with yourself, but it’s not the end of the world you do. 😉

Use these dating tips, and Download Happn today to keep your romantic life going strong… because even in a pandemic, love finds a way. ❤
