Words In Order

All-consuming darkness.
Nothingness.
A moments respite. The painful feeling, of rough fingers grasping his hair, moving to the back of his mind, replaced by a sudden surge of joy. His mouth, finally above water for a moment, sucks in a ragged breath, a breath that burns tortured lungs.

For both a second and an eternity, he is strong and free. Without warning, a sharp pain at the back of his head and he is forced under again.

All-consuming darkness.

A quick note: I am, luckily, not suffering from depression any longer. Just thought I would try and put into words, what it did feel like once.
