You can’t help when a crush suddenly overcomes you, but when that crush is on someone in a RELATIONSHIP, and you’re trying to be a GOOD PERSON.. oh, honey, now that’s not fair.
This guy and I had gone back and forth in flirtations before. I’d like to call it Crush Tag — kinda like phone tag, but it’s when you and another person have some mutual attraction, but the timing never really lines up with when you’re both available and ready to see that attraction through to anything. I’ve been playing Crush Tag with this one guy for years. One of the major reasons it hasn’t worked out, though, is that both of us have had long term relationships going on! So, if you find someone making you melt like a coconut wax candle (those burn REALLY fast!) while they’re still in a relationship, and you want to avoid the temptation of that toxicity, try these tips out!
- Self-satisfaction — you know where I’m going with this. Curb those temptations with your own talents… Ok, so NOTHING is hotter than what you can’t have. I was in so much heat the days following that drunken text conversation, you would’ve thought I was fresh out of prison. If I could’ve seen him that night, I would. Chances are, though, that some already present sexual frustration was playing a factor in making me put dumb bitch goggles on, so my advice to you is to just focus on taking care of that.. by yourself. Get to know yourself, and get acquainted with the art of seducing yourself, instead of men who don’t know what they want.
- Talk to your (emotionally intelligent) friends — if they have your best interest, they’ll talk you out of texting him! Or DMing him! Or snapchatting him! Don’t even think his name! Call your friends, talk it out with them, and drink over an episode of Love Island instead. There are PLENTY of hot people there, so why not develop a crush on someone else that’s unattainable? Since you seem to like that…
- Burn your phone — just get rid of it entirely, and start dating. But I guess only date people willing to communicate via letters and hushed conversations under the stars. Just go be in a Jane Austen novel, I guess.
