h2>Dating : How to Write a Poem
No experience is needed.
I had never written a poem in my 19 years of life. Maybe once unwillingly for an English class in high school, but it was never born in my heart to do so until last night.
I’m currently back at my parent’s house for Christmas break, and I feel like I’m going insane, which led me to try new things. One of them: writing. After a couple of times, I felt like I failed miserably so I kind of gave up the idea. It wasn’t until last night that I was bored and decided to try the iMovie app on my MacBook and play around with some nature clips I took that I never got to post. I managed to gather all of the clips but it felt like something was missing. I dug deeper into my storage cloud and found a clip of me playing some piano keys (which I also don’t have any experience on). Everything seemed to be in place but I still felt like it needed something. I replayed the video endlessly until my creativity bulb lit up; a poem! My video clips and piano playing needed a poem.
I didn’t think much about it and quickly opened a tab on google docs. I played the video from the beginning and started writing what I felt belonged to the keys I was playing. I am currently in a relationship with a boy whom I love very deeply. Throughout our relationship, we took a week-long break to ourselves for appreciation purposes which encouraged the piano tunes that I inserted as a background in the video. I started to think about him, how much I love him, and how the words I was writing would fulfill him.
I know what you are probably thinking, and no, there is no need for you to be in a relationship, or in love, or write the poem to someone. You can put the focus on yourself, and write words that fulfill YOU or words that you wish someone told you. Express how you feel towards someone, a friend, your mom, or even yourself, it doesn’t have to be about love.
That is how I was inspired to write a poem that I now feel really proud of. I will now be open-minded to give poetry writing another try.
