Dating : I don’t date short guys!

“I don’t date short guys” my coworker laughed as she swiped through her dating app. She’s 5’9″ and I am 5’1″ so I honestly never had an issue with someone shorter than me wanting to date me. Around Halloween, I get mistaken for a trick-or-treater. Everyone I have met has always been taller than me, even if just by a few inches, so I honestly could not understand her perspective.

She attempted to explain to me how she would have to change her whole wardrobe just to consist of flats and that she would have to put all of her high-heels and stilettos in storage if she ever came across that situation. “It would just be AWKWARD!” she insisted. I brushed it off as I was not able to relate and figured she knows what she wants so let her swipe away to what she thinks is a good fit.

Later that day, I got off work, and rushed over to my son’s soccer practice. The coach was asking all the players to line up and for the first time ever it hit me and I saw — my son is that short guy! Sure, he’s still a kid and can have a growth spurt but compared to all the other players, you could definitely see the size gap.

I instantly thought…which may be bias although truth in my opinion…if someone were to pass on my kid when he’s old enough to date simply because he lacked the inches in height, well honestly, it’d be their loss! They’d be missing out on this amazing soul with a huge heart who loves to make people laugh and have a good time and be goofy.

The next day when I got into work I told my coworker that she really could be missing out on something awesome just because of a few inches but she didn’t want to hear it and i’m not one to push my point of view on somebody.

If our lives were measured in inches, we could be missing out on some amazing huge love out there. Give the short guys/tall guys/short girls/tall girls a chance and perhaps they’ll change your perspective.
