Dating : Last day (A Short Story)

h2>Dating : Last day (A Short Story)

Kaelle Calzado

I was sitting on my bed looking through the window. I can feel the warmth of the sun that shines through the glass panes, and feel the soft breeze as the drapes dance in rhythm.

I can hear the laughter of my children and grandchildren as they play outside. My husband noticed me and gave me the biggest smile; the very smile that I loved and lived for.

As he came nearer to greet me, his scent became more distinct like a sweet candy I used to love when I was young.

“What a great day it is, my Love, right?”, I smiled and said.

He leaned over to kiss me and replied, “Well, thank you for making my everyday bright, my sunshine.”

My kids and grandkids came running towards my room with glowing faces of happiness and love. I looked at each one of them and I told myself, “You did a great job.” And now I know my time has come.

“I love you. Live in kindness and happiness. You all made this life worth every second of it. Be well, as I will always guide you for the rest of your lives,” I said.

I saw the tears streaming down their eyes, but with smiles on their lips. “Take care Mom, we love you,” they responded.

I hugged my husband and whispered, “Live on, I’ll wait for you up there”.

He hugged me tighter and told me “Be nice while I’m still not there, don’t you dare teach the Angels how to drink alcohol and get drunk. »

I smiled as I felt his tears running through my nape, “I’ll see you then, my life, I love you.” and I closed my eyes.

Before I breathe my last, “I love you, too.” I heard him sigh.

And that was the last day of my life.
