“Left! Right! Left!

Left! Right! Left!

Left!

It reminded her of those parades in school she used to participate in and a reminiscent smile curved her lips.

Sitting out on her 14th floor balcony in her favorite knit swing with a coffee in hand and an earmarked book resting on the adjacent coffee table, she was mindlessly scrolling through this new dating app her friend had suggested she try.

Unlike the other apps, this one required you to make a video profile, the content of which was per one’s own choosing. Some sang, some danced, some recited overused poetry.

Amidst this sea of talent was when she first saw him. He was a good looking fellow with a light stubble and brown eyes, but that wasn’t what caught her attention. It was his video.

He didn’t try to be a salesman out here — rather simply talking about himself, his world views and expectations from the app. He seemed like a decent guy and she thought, why not?

Swipe Right!”

“Then? What happened next?” came a small voice, entranced in the story.

“Then they met and fell in love… and he’s still very much in love with her to this day.” He said glancing at his wife who had passed out on the small bed before their 3-year old could.

Giving a quick goodnight kiss to the younger one, he pecked his wife’s forehead and left the room, turning off the lights on his way out.

Passing the bookshelf enroute their room, he could still see the same earmarked book, left right where it was, 5 years ago.
