Dating : The dark chill

h2>Dating : The dark chill

Soumya Rauth

The midnight roof was always there for her to sit and let her mind wander. Starlet, is her name. She usually would be here just like tonight when she feels overwhelmed by her surroundings.

Resting her back against the cradle chair she puts aside her phone so that she can find some peace in this mild cricket stricken silence. Gazing on the crescent in the sky for a while she asked herself, Isn’t the moon looking a bit brighter tonight? I think crescent isn’t usually as bright as it looks now. Or is it that I never looked as keenly as I am looking right now? At the very moment a heck of a cool wind passed through her, forced her to close her eyes. This feels great, almost what she was hoping for. While wishing for next touch of the wind, she heard a scream of a women following a shout from a man. It isn’t that much of an unusual thing to hear in this stress filled city life, she thought to herself. Despite that, her curiosity made her to look around, merely finding three windows where the lights were turned on. The scream wasn’t there anymore after that one time. So she again started focusing on the crescent.

Unconsciously picking up her phone and going through the feeds of her social media made her think that this does not make her feel exactly peaceful but there is something which made her keep doing it. May be it’s a hope that the next post will have enough ingredient to give her that exact peace which she needs right now. Then again she thought, or may be it’s just an illusion which is not letting her stop scrolling through. Her speed of scrolling went faster. Wait! a sudden pause, going back a few posts. A murder! only four apartments away from her place.
