Dating : Things are getting worse… and better.

Let’s look at the world we’re creating using this model of the human mind. We have America today, caught in a dilemma. Humans are piling up at our borders in such numbers we can’t begin to treat with them in any sort of compassionate way. We have suicides and addictions, hate speech and fascism vying for headspace with socialism and communism and there doesn’t seem to be any way forward.

What energies were used to create this world? If you are still with me, you can plainly see, they came out of the basement of being. Out of the muck and mire that birthed us. Out of the actions of primitive creatures who’s appetites lean toward conquest and greed. Who’s lusts are for domination and destruction. No amount of religion can disguise the true twisted desires that come from our reptilian brains.

Where are we as a civilization looking at this mess? Are we in the basement still trying to find ways to hate and vilify each other? There are no solutions in the basement. Perhaps this is what Einstein meant when he said “Problems cannot be solved with the same mind set that created them.”

Look closer too; at the same time we can plainly see the extent of human suffering all around us and many try to find solutions. It’s expressed in compassion for the hurt among us. It’s in the conversations we’re having about helping students burdened by oppressive loans. In the considerations in healthcare for all, for UBI (Universal basic income). It’s even in the discussion about open borders.

Economics aside, this impulse is not coming from the basement of the human experience, it’s coming from the very highest aspects of our being; and it’s spreading. More and more of us want to live in the higher parts of our consciousness. The impulse is divine, only the implementation of it remains to be divinely inspired and practical as well.

Take comfort, things are getting better even as they seem to get worse.

How can we live in this world, caught as we are between the spirit and the flesh?

It’s not going to be easy but at least we can now identify the energy with which we’re working. We can tell if it’s coming from the dark places inside us. If it’s hostile, if it’s hateful, if it’s intolerant, it’s spill over from the lower brain.

If it’s unifying, peaceful and well intentioned- if it brings people together to heal without harming; we know what dimensions of our being we’re expressing.

I’ll end with one more thing, a warning if you will. One more overlooked lesson from Adam and Eve. When you choose a path downward, when you yield to the temptations of the lower self, you abandon help from the higher self. You cannot serve two masters. All the power and potential of a higher existence are denied you when you descend.

In the story, God puts Adam and Eve out of the garden of Eden, and condemned them to a life of separation.

Yet all they had to do, all we have to do, is to turn back toward the light. Turn towards those parts of our being that are illuminated by higher powers. If our actions are guided by the higher self, what a world we can create.
