Dating : Unassuming Couple

“Are you ready Mama?” Richard asked as the tingle of adrenaline started coursing through his body. “Shut up Dick!” She said while shaking her head and rolling her eyes away from him. Richard’s lips parted into a smile, giving way to his heavily coffee-stained false teeth. In his pocket, Richard clutched a magnum 357 revolver. The barrel and cylinder edges were almost polished silver from the relationship it had with various holsters and the inside of Richard’s pockets over the past four decades. It ‘didn’t affect the firearm’s ability to shoot rounds down range through’ — a statement he often proclaimed proudly to friends while displaying it as a trophy piece at parties.

In the cylinder, somewhere, was Elvis. This was always the case. Prior to each adventure the two embarked upon, Big Mama June would open their large home safe and pull out a single 357 bullet, once owned by the King of Rock and Roll — Mr. Elvis Presley. Richard would pop out the revolver’s cylinder and motion for Big Mama June to place the bullet in the slot. And she would ritualistically accommodate. “And one for the King…” Richard would whisper as he spun the cylinder allowing it to rotate wildly until the rotational advancement clicks ceased — then snapped the cylinder into position with the flick of his wrist. Richard always had a flare for the dramatic and this bit was no different. This was his way of catastrophically collapsing his victim’s mentality state, should the person interfere with their plans. For now, the revolver remained in Richard’s hand, well concealed in his jacket pocket.

With one hand in his pocket, Richard steadied himself with his other on Big Mama June’s cart. Both watched the cart break the threshold of the store, then looked at each other as they followed.
