Facebook offers to create an avatar: here’s how to proceed

Imagine yourself in version 2.0, what would you look like? You can find out now thanks to the new functionality offered by Facebook, called Avatars.
On the basis of Snapchat bitmojis, Mark Zuckerberg’s firm is offering its community, in May 2020, create your virtual character, shaped in his image.
What use?
If this possibility already existed on Messenger (Facebook’s instant messaging system), it can now be used directly on the social network.
In comments or profile picture, it is another means of expression, more personalized, like traditional gifs or emojis.
Objective for the American giant: rejuvenate your image to attract a younger community which today favors the Chinese application more Tik Tok (800 million active users in January 2020 according to data from Datareportal.)
How to create an avatar?
• On mobile
All you have to do is go to your menu (bottom right on IOS) and click on “show more”, then on “Avatars”.

After having passed the presentation, you will be offered to launch the creation of your avatar. Let’s go !
First the skin color with no less than 30 possibilities, then the hairstyle (a hundred proposals), the color of the eyes, the complexion, the make-up, etc. It is also possible to add wrinkles, modify its silhouette and add a hat.
Also know that at each step, it is possible to go back via the arrow, top left.

• From Messenger
It is also possible to create an avatar from Messenger.
You must then go into a conversation and then in the “stickers” tab. There, you will have to press the “Create your avatar” button to start modeling yourself.
Once you’re done, you can set your avatar as a new profile picture, use it as a sticker, or in a Messenger conversation.

If you ever don’t see these features on your Facebook profile, be patient: development is gradual and you should see Avatars appear in the coming weeks.
