POF : Account deleted right after i made it

So ive been on and off of pof for a few years either deleting my account because i found someone or not having luck. Last night i decided to give it another shot but by this morning it was deleted. Didnt get any message about why. I only talked with two guys. It was going well.

I decided to make another one today to make sure it was actually deleted and not an instance where i forgot my password. I used the same email but made a different username. Sure enough within a couple hours it was deleted.

As far as I know I didn’t violate any polices. I didn’t even get to talk to anyone. The only thing i can think of is for a while i had gender identity issues and had an account under male gender. I’ve decided im not trans and im just a tom boy. Maybe since i used the same email address the gender change confused them and it got detected as a spam or fraud account. Im just wondering if anyone else thinks that this might be the reason or if there might be another.

  1. I have seen bot’s with mixed gender descriptions, they simply copy paste a bunch of stuff and don’t check everything.

So yes that is probably what happened.

  2. I think it’s based on IP or something like that. My cousin, who only has a flip phone (no internet capabilities to speak of) and no computer, comes over to my house when she needs to do something online. One of the things she decided to do was sign up for PoS… I mean PoF.

I went over it with her. Everything on her profile was clean. There wasn’t anything on there that wouldn’t be appropriate to say if a ten year old sat down next to you on a park bench and started chatting. The profile pic, which I took myself, clearly showed her face and she was fully clothed. The only exposed flesh was on her hands and face. Didn’t even do the obligatory cleavage shot.

She came over the next day, logged in, and her account had been deleted. I know it wasn’t an email issue because she used her own email address. It wasn’t the content. If it weren’t a dating site you’d think she was a nun.

I took to the forums to see what was going on. 80% of the replies were idiots claiming that I was setting up the account myself to « pretend to be a woman, » (this was a few years before I stopped suppressing my own gender identity issues so I hadn’t entertained the notion of presenting as anything other than male on PoF), one person said to contact an admin on my cousin’s behalf (I did, no reply), and the rest told me to have her go to a public library to access the site. The nearest library is 8 miles, all she has to do to get to my house is step across a line that only exists on a surveyor’s map, and she shouldn’t have to drive 8 miles to go on a dating site when she only has to walk less than a tenth of a mile to get unrestricted access to the internet.

  3. Actually this is quite common. The problem is POF has very aggressive cache server settings. That is to say, as pages are requested from POF the back end hoards them so they can be served faster to the next person.

If you’ll go to the login page, log in as you thought would work, then click on Inbox, I bet you’ll see it is working.

If that doesn’t work, clear your browser cache (might want to search your history for POF only so that you don’t delete forms for other sites like email) then try logging in again.

This happened to me over and over, but fortunately as a tech I figured out what was going on on my own.

  4. I’ve had my account deleted a couple of times. My theory is if someone reports you for any reason (valid or not), they delete you rather than investigating it. I’ve been able to sign up with my same username after each time it was deleted. It’s really annoying because I can’t always find the people I was talking to and wanted to get to know better.
