POF : Can some women tell me how many times a day they block someone?
I did an experiment a while back, i made a profile, added women to my favorites, used the favorite list to access a message history which was blank and went through them one by one, blocking them, that profile lasted a day, I blocked around 20 people.

I’ve always been curious about the inner workings of pof, I know for sure some aspects of the site are different for women, you have a flirt button, we do not is one example.

Its my belief that women’s profiles are harder to get banned than men’s, so how often do you block someone ladies?, I blocked ten women in a day with that experimental profile, it was gone the same day.

I would love to get a good look at how pof operates from the inside, there’s sure to be some shocking stuff there.

Here’s some things I have been able to piece together, most are anecdotal with only the effects to infer these from, so they will only be partially true or the end result of an unknown process (speculation).

Getting blocked around ten times is a ban or a flag for a ban.

There is a strange « flag » that happens when you sign up without circumventing the i.p block, your profile will have an odd glitch and the sent message screen (where you go into messages you have sent, not the confirmation) will be different, messages won’t get through, there’s around 30 minutes for the autoban to kick in.

Pictures are actually not marked in any way and its safe to upload previously used pictures, they don’t trigger a ban.

Email addresses might cause a ban if previously used, I have not tested this yet.

People can’t message you once you are flagged to get banned, I have confirmed this, cross checked it with alternate profiles, messages were not getting through just before getting banned.

There was a slight change in the site’s coding a while back, used to be sent messages would be deleted if someone blocks you, this is no longer the case, only the link from your inbox is now deleted when you are blocked, you can still access sent messages from the sent message folder and block them in return.

If you want to know if someone has blocked you without messaging them for the message that says you are blocked by the user, add them to favorites, people who block you don’t show up in favorites, and they are removed from favorites once you get blocked.

That is not new it has always been like that ever since pof started. Also you can only get banned from POF if you have 10 or more people block you and you get a number of reports on your profile. POF takes reports very seriously and you can’t just report someone because you don’t like them. They investigate these things.

I have been on and off POF since 2009 and you would never send someone a message if they had you blocked. You always got the message « You have been blocked find somebody else to contact » I also only know that because I had a guy who would add me as a favorite then send me a message then block me. He did this twice before he tried to do it a third time I was able to contact him and I told him to stop with the childish BS. We spoke once before that on the site and he wasn’t interested so I just moved on and didn’t contact again.
