POF : Does this sound like a scammer or catfish playing the long game?

POF : Does this sound like a scammer or catfish playing the long game?

Hi everyone,

I just signed up for POF a few weeks ago. I’ve messaged with my fair share of girls where you can tell they are scammers. I messaged this one girl on the POF site back on April 13th at night and I can’t tell if she’s real or not. After some back and forth messaging, it got late, and she said she was going to sleep but wanted to trade numbers to text. So we exchanged numbers. The next morning, on April 14th, she texted me good morning. I texted her good morning and didn’t hear back from her until the next morning, April 15th. It snowed over here that morning, and she texted me a picture outside with the snow, so that was a good sign that it seems like this person lives at least in the area. We proceeded to text back and forth quite a bit that day.

So between April 15th and today, we’ve been texting. Sometimes she’ll text me in the morning and I won’t hear back from her the next day. Sometimes we’ll have a few back and forth text conversations on the same day. She said she is interested in meeting up, but after the lockdown ends. We also have exchanged pics. I did a reverse search on her pics and I didn’t get any results, fortunately.

To me, it seems like this person is legit except that her pics look really good, so it’s hard to believe that this person is real. Other than the pics and sometimes sending me just a good morning text and not hearing from her until a day later, I don’t see any obvious red flags. She hasn’t asked for any money or for me to go to any sites.

I wanted to see if, based on my description of our interactions, whether you’ve seen scammers or catfishers behave similarly. This damn coronavirus is the ultimate cockblocker, I want to meet her badly, if not just to see if she’s real or not. Thanks in advance for any feedback you can give!

  1. I have talked to women who are apparently real, and their job and name check out with online profiles they have on things like LinkedIn and Twitter. But I still question whether the person who I was talking to on the dating profile was actually that person.

A little over one year ago I was talking to someone that lived in the same city as me, but I could not get them to come hang out at the park a few feet from their house. Whenever someone starts wielding their power over you to decide if they even still want to talk to you, it’s really not worth pursuing them. Some of these people just play games, I think.

  2. Well, I just got a call from her out of the blue. We never talked before so I didn’t know that it was her. We talked for a little bit. I was actually shocked that she called me. Do catfishers call as well?
