POF : Male Side of PoF Upgrade Question

POF : Male Side of PoF Upgrade Question

So I was on a date with a guy this week that I met on PoF. Was asking him about his experiences on the app as a guy. I have gathered here that men are targeted for scams a lot more frequently than women, and wanted his first hand experience. He was a new user to the site, so fortunately he had none to report. But he did say that he was forced to become an upgraded user due to this circumstance: he messages me, I get it and message back, and then they tell him that he has to upgrade to see my response. Lol, what? I checked to see if I toggled something about upgraded users in my email settings, but my profile looks good on that front.

Then he said he signed up for one month, and it automatically changed it to one year and tripled the payment! This sounds so shady if true, but I have no way to know. Has anyone else ever had that happen to them on PoF specifically? Below are the perks of being an upgraded member, and this situation doesn’t seem applicable. I am wondering if this dude just didn’t know how to use the site or if it truly is a scam. Anyone care to share their experiences?

  1. If you’re a non member there is a offer to see if the person actually received the message, so I’m sure he understood the option wrong and made him a member instead, and again he probably choose the contract that is yearly, saw the savings in general and choose that option.

    Good luck with him.
