POF : Oddities of POF

So a few oddities I wanted to point out on POF.

I’ve been trying to get a feel for the tool adding likes for my favorites. I have a nice pool so I decided to start approaching these so called entities.

Now None has even looked at my profile according to the tool but the two I picked to draft notes to show I’m blocked by the user.

How does that happen when you haven’t contacted them and they haven’t even looked at your pictures.

Also, I sent notes to several entities over a month ago and never got a response or a view of profile.

Are there a lot of dead profiles on POF and what’s a better platform?

I don’t want to waste any more effort.

  1. There are (were when I stopped using the site) two distinct interfaces (browser and app).

Browser: Use search, to narrow your criteria and it shows when they were last online. Anyone that hasn’t been on « this week », is pretty much dead. Anything older than 30 days IS dead.

Ignore the « you sent a message to x, here are some others to look at ». Those may not be current users. You can also see who’s online and you know they are current.

Phone app: You can’t see who is online the way you can on the browser, BUT, you can use the « nearby » and see how many miles away they are and those would have been online in the last 6 hours if memory serves, so they’re current.

As for being blocked… I suspect you’re a guy. Some women block a guy for sending one message… it’s a « not interested, go away » thing. I have a special word for those people, but so be it.

The other aspect you need to examine is if you’re being honest about what league you are in. You need to stay in your own league or even down a notch. Once a woman gets used by a couple of guys above her league, she begins to believe she belongs in that league, even though the guy was either hobosexual or just wanted to get laid and leave.

  2. > Now None has even looked at my profile according to the tool but the two I picked to draft notes to show I’m blocked by the user.

There is a feature that allows you to set it so others do not see that you viewed someones profile so you have no idea if they viewed your profile or not.

    >How does that happen when you haven’t contacted them and they haven’t even looked at your pictures.

See above and there is a way to block without sending messages, but how do you know you are blocked without sending a message?

  3. I only use website so app might be different.
If you add a favourite, they will be aware, if you leave it too long to send a message it might spook them, especially if you keep viewing them. They might see you’ve favourited them and not like the look of you, so blocked you.
I don’t use favourites or view people more than once unless I’m going to send a message.
You can pay for an upgrade which among other things allows you to view profiles without your identity being revealed, although they will know they’ve been viewed.

  4. In my experience on POF you cannot block someone who has not yet messaged you. It may be that they have set their message settings to include geographic boundaries, i.e. a user would need to be within 75 miles of them to contact them. Those features are in the mail settings at the very bottom of your « edit profile » page.
