POF : Pet names
Do you use pet names when talking to people you have not met offline? Do you like pet names?
I’m really annoyed when guys use the terms “dear, hun, honey, luv, etc” when I don’t know them. I never met them offline. I even put that in my profile because it is so annoying when guys use it and I don’t even know them.

No pet names if I don’t know you. Absolutely not. I, like you, am put off by all those pet names.
Girls do it too and it is annoying.. It’s kinda the same if someone tells a story and uses persons names that I have no clue who it is.
Example. « Sharon told me to go home because I felt ill »
Is Sharon in charge? Who the hell is she?
I really hate this, and it feels like most men do it. I put a line on my profile saying « please dont call me pet names » and now I feel more justified in ignoring the first messages that do.
OMG! That happened to me. A couple of guys on POF just called me hun and babe in every message they sent sometimes 3 times in a single sentence and it annoyed me to the point I just screamed into my pillow because since I tried to ask him to stop calling me babe he started calling me hun and he got really intense telling me to call him multiple times a day to get me to tell him everything that I had done and everything I was going to do despite us never meeting. I just gave up on the app the day after from just sheer frustration. Why do they think we like pet names especially when they could just call us by our actual names or not use our names at all when it’s not needed?
Hahahaha this has happened to me but I guess I ignore it. It is a bit weird but if I like you I’ll tolerate it. Still odd to me how they can address someone like that without actually meeting them.
Yes x 10000. I hate it so much. I’m 33 and get messages saying “hi babe, my dear/darling” fuck off dude, don’t call me pet names, and I’m not your anything.
