POF : POF hacked/security question
My account was hacked.
Not a joke post- I had an old account for about a year then started fresh 2 years ago with a new one and never got around to shutting down the old one.
In January I got a message on a different dating site from a guy saying he’d seen me on POF under « OriginalAccountName » and if I was actually a real person, then someone changed my pics and info. I assumed he was confusing my old and new profiles but under my new one I searched my old username and he was correct- I’d been hacked.
Someone had changed my pics to a different blonde girl and posted some lingerie pics. Changed some of the identifying info but not all, and claimed I was « looking for guys to sex with ». Reverse image search shows those pics used on tons of scam/etc sites.
I tried to log in and my password hadn’t been changed so I got in no problem. A poke into the inbox of that account showed the hacker had tried to upload nudes as well but they’d been removed for being against TOS. The message dates of the blocked pics coincided with the date the guy messaged about my hacked profile.
I took screenshots of everything (including the dude’s message on OKC) and then deleted any editable text as well as the fake pics. Weirdly my original pics were…underneath, if that makes sense. Like grayed out but under the fake pics, and reappeared when I deleted the fake ones.
Then I deleted the account. I tried contacting security but no reply. I emailed all the screenshots to security@pof as well as to myself as a record, but it’s been over a month and no reply. I knew it was a long shot but I’m posting here wondering if anyone has ever had this happen or knows of any actual way to reach some kind of security/customer service.

Yeah my account was hacked and I had no clue. My then GF at the time found it and accused me of cheating on her. The person was using my pics with a different name and talking to multiple women. It was a mess. Contacting POF was non existent but some how I managed to get back into the account and close it. Good luck.
This is such a similar story to me. I had an account for a while which ended up being hacked. I made a new one and not long after that it was also hacked. POF’s security is atrocious, they keep letting his happen and NOTHING gets done about it. They always blame the user even if they take every precaution they can against it. Ridiculous
How do you do a reverse image search?
Take a look at the other posts here. About 1/3rd of them mentions getting hacked. I’m guessing hackers found a way in, and the site owners simply don’t care.
