POF : POF Is the Worst
I just used plenty of fish every day for four months. I am 6 feet tall, handsome, have plenty of money, i’m in great shape, and i’m a kind and interesting person. I’m 28 years old.
On average I messaged about 30 people a day, and through the swiping of images part I got swiped right about 3x per day by other women. Overall about 25 women messaged me back total over the course of 4 months. Of those, half stopped responding halfway through our conversation, the other half simply didn’t lead anywhere.
I never had a single date, got a phone number, or progressed beyond very basic conversation. I messaged well over 1000 women and on every single one I read their profile and sent a tailored message. I’m actually semi retired so that’s the only reason I had time to do all this.
90% of my messages were not read. Since I have premium I was able to see nobody reading my messages. Overall between premium and tokens and « getting noticed, » I spent $250 on the site during my time.
Today I have called my credit card company and begun the process of reversing all charges.

POF, and to a larger extent, online dating, has outlived it’s usefulness and it’s life. It’s used to be a niche thing for that kind of person to take advantage of. Ever since the commercialization of the internet and social media, though, it’s basically facebook lite with strangers. Most of the girls on POF have been on there for years. They’re jaded. They probably get tons of crap messages from creeps all day. So they’re jaded. I know it’s difficult to pull away from especially if it’s your only viable option, but I’d limit use on the app. It’s a life-drainer and it really makes you jaded about dating in general.
When I was in a more rural town, I swiped every chick that didn’t make my eyes water right. I did hundreds per night until POF said, « Sorry, there are no more women, please come back later. » I estimate I swiped about 1000 women in a 1 hour radius. I gave up on POF after that.
Im in the same boat you are. Except the girls that want to meet me are grossly overweight. I mean, they see i am active and love to backpack. Do these butter slugs *really* think they can keep up with me? The women I do message that are attractive, i dont hear much from them. But i cannot see if they read my messages. I quit paying for it. The ones that do message me seem to have as much personality as the turd i flushed this morning. I get tired of carrying conversation so I started telling women they bore me and best of luck.
