POF : POF scam
So this recently happened to me and I noticed its a pretty common scam. Start chatting with a 22 year old female on POF, carries over to texting, pictures are exchanged hers are not nude but are slutty. I send her nude pics. Turns out she’s 17 and her « father » sends me a long angry text saying he found his daughter in the middle of recording a naughty video to send me. Says he has deleted the video and is going to have me put in jail for 15 years. States he has informed the police and his lawyer, claims his lawyer directed him to give me an ultimatum (note this is a South Carolina number and I am in California) either I go to prison and his insurance pays for his daughters stay at a mental institution for 7 months or we settle outside, don’t involve police and I pay him 12k. First I was paranoid but after a few Google searches and talking to an office from my police department this appears to be a scam. Have blocked both the « daughters » number and fathers. Anyone else been through this?

You are not the first guy to come on here and post about this scam. Someone else posted this scam either last week or the week before. I would try to see if you can find a way to contact POF and let them know about this. I know they don’t really have contact information on their site
The scam is common. Legal advice has ir had a sticky dedicated to it
Okay good to know, well the profile no longer exists it « dissapeared » shortly after I was contacted by the « father »Best way to avoid scams is to be off that site so I deleted mine as well.

yeah most things like this are scam !! i wouldn’t worry but talking to the police department isn’t a smart move cause if it wasn’t a scam you would have snitched on yourself lol
Why would you send nudes to anyone? I’ve never sent a nude and have always requested that girls don’t send me any either.
In California and I believe most other states that would be called « extortion » and is a felony.
