POF : This site / app is useless and a waste of time.
First things first, I use the free version of the app, I would pay for it but I doubt me paying is going to fix any of the issues I currently have.
I am not the greatest looking guy, but I don’t look like the elephant man or anything close to that. I suck at writing first messages which im sure has something to do with why I don’t get reply’s from the real Pof users, but this isn’t really about that.
How can you possibly charge 20 dollars a month for a service that is basically 75 percent fake? Any actual likes I get on the site are fake bots or people trying to scam you.
After a Certain amount of bots or scammers you can’t even tell if your talking to a real person or not ( other then the obvious signs) and seeing that someone likes you only to find out it’s a half naked girl who most likely doesn’t event know her picture is being used by a bot or scammer really does a thing on your mental health. If I wasn’t such a pussy, i would be dead by now with how this site makes you feel. There must be a way for them to root out the bots.

Sadly I think POF is in on the scam which is why nothing will change. I also suspect that POF gets good revenue from the « bots » so for them too not allow it would cut off a steady revenue stream for themselves. You should also know that the women get scammed too.
There is no « free version ». You can upgrade your membership, but the version doesn’t change, just the features are unlocked. The unlocked features aren’t worth much to me, maybe a buck a month at most. But the platform is so poorly executed that I won’t reward them for that shit.
It is not 75% fake. Most of the accts for more than a day are real people. They may be people that abandoned their accts (when searching, if « online more than 30 days ago » shows up, forget it), or they may just be shitty people, but the majority of the accts I’ve interacted with are real people, even if they are shitty people.
Once again, I’m seeing someone say that a bot is damaging to his mental health (last one tried to link bots to suicide). I don’t get that. If you can’t spot a bot quickly, you’re gullible as hell. Okay, perhaps my age and body type have something to do with that statement, but if some profile says 50 year old and it’s clearly a picture of a 20something skinny hottie, I know good and well she’s not real. Even if she were a real person, I am not interested in someone 20+ years younger than me who has such self-esteem issues that she would date an old fat guy.
