POF : What’s your take on being called gorgeous all the time?

POF : What’s your take on being called gorgeous all the time?

I started talking to this man and everytime he greets me it’s with, « hey gorgeous ». He messaged first and asked how I was doing and said I looked very beautiful. I took it as a complement but any time we start a conversation it will be comments like, « hope you are having a good day gorgeous. » « Hows my gorgeous lady doing? »

To me it just screams ‘I have no confidence so let’s call this girl gorgeous and try to keep her attention’

I can take a compliment but every damn 20mins it gets pretty annoying and actually makes me feel like that’s all he sees.

What’s your take one this? I would also like to hear from the guys as well.

  1. They come off very empty/shallow/lazy.

I mean, I get where they are coming from, but enough attraction can be assumed since we are talking in the first place.

Whenever I get this, I make some joke about how my name must not be on my profile and say “My name is (blank) by the way.”

If they can’t take the hint, they’re not someone I’d want to date anyways. Block/delete/unmatch.

  2. I feel like guys are told they’re supposed to tell girls they’re pretty and whatnot, but if you’re saying that he’s doing this multiple times in one convo then I feel like it’s one of two things, either he probably thinks that you’re insecure and that’s what you want to hear or he’s the insecure one and feels like it’s the only way to keep you coming back. You said that you told him to stop it and he either ignores it, forgets about it, or just doesn’t care. Either of those scenarios aren’t good and will likely translate over to meeting irl.

  3. Sorry, but it creeps me out when a guy always talks about looks. Compliment me on something unique about me, not some generic ass ‘gorgeous’ crap. It’s fine once, face to face, said genuinely. It’s not fine often or before we even meet. Look deeper, dude.

  4. I had to think a little bit. I gave my girlfriends nick names in the past. One I would call « my pretty lady » and my recent ex I would refer to « my love ». Howeve inrealze the biggest difference beyond the fact I didn’t say it every 20 mins is that I was in a long term relationship with them.

Either this guy lacks social norms or he is trying to rush a kind of closeness by talking to you as though you two are already close. The reason he wants to rush the closeness could be any reason though I’d wager he wants to try to smash before establishing a real commection.

  5. I understand what you mean, I was talking to a girl and everyday multiple times a day it would be « handsome » or « hun » and idk why but constantly called hun got on my nerves so damn bad! I thought I was just being a jerk or projecting insecurities but needless to say those conversations are no longer going on! Lol I guess it depends on how much you like the person, if I had liked them more I’d have probably told them how annoying it was but I just moved on to try to find better, less annoying conversations! Haha best of luck fishing everybody.

  6. It’s cool but at some point I want to be called by name..just to make sure you know it. The ones that never ever say your name don’t know it or are talking to too many women to keep track.

  7. What if they start their first message with, « Hey, handsome »?
Not saying add « gorgeous » to every reply. I usually go with « Hey, you » or their name

  8. He may be speaking with several women and is trying to prevent a name mix-up. Call him handsome every time you greet him. Maybe he’ll get the hint.

  9. I’d love it. I’m an old, fat, bald guy. 🙂

He’s trying to compliment you. If he said « hi, moderately attractive person who really isn’t as hot as I’d like, but I’m still happy to see you », it wouldn’t have the same ring, now would it?
