POF : Why are so many people getting scammed? Am I getting scammed without realizing it?

POF : Why are so many people getting scammed? Am I getting scammed without realizing it?

Hi quick question. I have been using dating apps for about a year now. Pof,tinder, bumble, and chispa. Those are my main ones but I get alot of notification from pof so I go on there alot. I have met my on and off again bf from pof around Christmas time last year. He said he is based in Jacksonville Fl and in the navy. Yes we have met up. I always FaceTime through snapchat before meeting anyone. So no catfish here. He has never asked me for money in fact he’ll send me like $20 here and there. We really care for each other we are just young (both 22). However he always says he’s broke and doesn’t have a mailing address. I thought you can send letters to military people? I think he’s really in the military but maybe there’s stuff I don’t know what to ask. He never tried to « scam » me I think he’s just a normal annoying 22 year old lol. But also when I am dabbling on pof I have met plenty of people my age who are serving either in the army, marines, air force and so forth. We all add each other on snapchat and they seem normal. So what’s the deal with the « military scammers? How can I avoid it?

  1. How do you know that he doesn’t already have a partner? Or if he has a gf in every city?

The best way to not be scammed is to only accept local requests. Meet them, check out where they live (in a safe way) & think about how consistent their messaging has been.

    Good Luck. 🙂
