POF : Women who say they cant use « Meet Me » and other things.

I’ve run across literally a lot of profiles from « women » that say some odd things.

1. Don’t use the « meet me » feature, because I can’t see who you are.
2. I’m not a paid member, so can’t see your messages.
3. My profile says I’m 45, but I’m really 53 and can’t change my age.

All of those are FALSE. Not sure if these are red flags for fake profiles?

  1. I am pretty sure the age thing is legit, but it’s still sketchy to do. You can only change your age within the first two weeks of having your account. Really though, who gets this wrong unless they’re trying to sneak past age filters? I am a stickler on basic facts being accurate in profiles, so maybe this bugs me more than others.

  2. 1. I consider those people to be stupid. After 30 mins on the site, you will know what an upgraded user looks like and that only upgraded users can see « meet me » results.
    2. Pure laziness. Why would you have a profile on a site where you can’t see messages?
    3. People lie about their age. Sometimes, it’s privacy issues, where they don’t want to give their « real » info, and once it’s set, you cannot change it. Other times, it’s people intentionally lying because people do that.

  3. they mean they are not paying members so they cant see who click yes on them in the meet me

haven’t seen the cant see you messages one

dunno about the wrong age thing, its a bit of a flag as is any discrepancy in a profile

  4. Points 1 and 2 are probably from people copy/pasting their bio from one dating app/site to another. I’ve seen bios on non-swiping dating apps that say « swipe right » or « swipe left » on that person, meaning they copied their profile from somewhere else. (I’m guilty of copy/pasting my bio between dating apps.)

The wrong age could be part of POF’s enforced morality rules, where you cannot view or message people outside of a certain age range from yourself (I think it’s +/- 14 years of your age, but can’t remember exactly.) For example, as a 38 year old man, I cannot see the profiles of ANYONE under the age of 24 on the site. It’s like they don’t exist. So some people will fudge their age to be seen by different age groups, and then put the « ooops my age is wrong! Tee Hee! » in their profile.

  5. 1 I wrote on my profile today that I don’t use Meet Me so if someone is interested they’re welcome to message me. I hate swiping and simply won’t do it.

    2. This makes no sense to me lol

    3. People who say this lied about their age to either appear for younger people or older people. POF only shows you to people within 14 years of your age.
