Dating : A Death of Color

The wind rustled the branches of the tree outside my window. Red and orange leaves scattered to the ground.

I wondered why we celebrate the falling of leaves. Why do we see the death of thousands of leaves as beauty? When our own deaths are covered in darkness and black. Sorrow and emptiness.

If the golden red death of the leaves is so beautiful, then why are funerals so harsh and cold? Why are funerals filled with sadness instead of beauty?

Someone might say that a human life is worth far more than the life of a single leaf. But do we truly believe that? If a human soul is more valuable than a leaf, shouldn’t we live that way?

Shouldn’t we cherish every moment, grasp every breath?

Because someday, that breath could be your very last.

So as I sit here, with the glory of autumn in my window, I wonder, am I living my life to the fullest? Am I filling my life with color before my death as the leaves do? Am I taking every opportunity to give someone some sense of happiness as the leaves do for people everywhere?

Am I living enough?
