Dating : Create Stronger Connections

h2>Dating : Create Stronger Connections

Unprecedented, extraordinary, uncharted territory… I don’t need to be the one to tell you that the world is upside down right now. Some days it gets me down, other days I feel like with change there comes tremendous opportunity. Through all the uncertainty, I find it helpful to stay focused on what’s important. To me, that’s being surrounded by my favorite people, new experiences and generally being my weird and quirky self. Lately, I’ve been using these tricks to help maintain close relationships with the people I love.

Find Common Ground

It is important to recognize that each person has a different comfort level when dating or just hanging out. Whether you prefer to only get together outdoors or you don’t mind being inside without a mask on, I find that it’s best to communicate your comfort level prior to getting together. Being open about setting these boundaries allows you to search for date ideas that align with those preferences, such as “at home” or “outdoor” in the Beacon filter. Once specified, both of you will feel more comfortable and relaxed during your time together, often leading to a stronger connection. Remember, it is equally as important to respect the boundaries that others set, even if they are more strict than your own.

Do Something New

While we certainly can’t do all the things we used to do pre-pandemic, we can still plan something new and fun for our special someone! That could mean searching for dates outside of your typical neighborhood go-to spots or perusing a couple of unique ideas that you wouldn’t typically consider. Yes, doing something new can feel like more effort; but Beacon makes it easy — a couple of my favorite ideas are the Mansion Mystery and Tropical Dream dates. It will all pay off when you and your date are laughing and taking in new experiences together.

Give Back

A great way to have fun and feel good is by giving back to those who need it most. If you’re a foodie, find a local food bank and help make or pass out meals. If you’re an animal lover, volunteer at a local dog shelter. There are so many ways we can get involved and meet others with similar interests. Not only will you already have a common connection, but you’ll also feel more fulfilled by meeting each other there—of course protecting yourselves by wearing masks, washing your hands frequently, using hand sanitizer, and social distancing.

All of the resources mentioned above can be found at Beacon. As always, feel free to reach out and say hi… we love hearing from you! Stay safe and happy dating!
