Dating : Diego The Shagmiester

So a story about the haiku I wrote, I had a dog a decade back. His name was Diego. He was raised by a friend of mine but because his landlord didn’t allow dogs to live on his property. He had to lock him up in a shelter he had made. Whenever he would leave, the dog would squeal on end until he would come back.

Retrievers squeal in a depressing manner. The voice could make anyone emotional. I told him that my house has a garden. I don’t have any problems with dogs or any animal for that matter. So why don’t you let me take care of him and he can stay over at my place?

He was relieved and asked me if I had any problems with it. I said I would love to take care of the dog as my own. He used to tie the dog in my garden, back then it wasn’t that lively and green. The house was just newly built and we had just moved in.

We used to live in the upper story of the house. The ground floor was still being finished by that time. So there was a lot of room for him to crawl and run around in. My friend tied him down and he would free himself by pawing or gnawing the rope altogether.

Dogs like retrievers are really smart. They can untie themself, without even breaking the leash. He used a metal leash, even that he broke. I used to never put a leash on him and let him do as he pleased as long as he would behave — he would.

Until that faithful day, a family acquaintance had come to us. I was about to come to meet her, and Diego was being a good boy until my arrival. Perhaps he got horny, or he just wanted to embarrass me — he started shagging her. I couldn’t control my laughter.

In that instant, she was like, “what is he doing?” — I said to her seems like he has taken a liking to you, and a hard one at that. Diego was a very naughty dog and the Fred kind from Courage the cowardly dog.

He has pulled off some of the naughtiest tricks in a comedian fable. As a dog, he has kind of lived it being the king of naughty peeps. He is the shagmiester, he being an adorable ball of fur liked to put it all on you with a loving smile.

Rubba, Lubbb Dubb Wubb
He hops on you, making haste
to rub himself, as he smiles
oh, Diego, you naughty boy

I believe it was a fantastic day, along with the many adventures I have had with him. He is alive and well — even in his adulthood, he is still naughty…
