Dating : Don’t Kill Me Mom: A Short Story

h2>Dating : Don’t Kill Me Mom: A Short Story

Girl in her teens, stunningly beautiful, dreamt of becoming a supermodel, Ms. India, and whatnot. She belonged to an affluent family. Her father was a real estate tycoon in South Delhi.

After completing her graduation from Amity University, Noida; she shifted to Mumbai to pursue her modeling career.

Mumbai was tough, even though she was toiling from her rented sea-facing apartment in Bandra from the last nine months, and had few local modeling assignments as well; loneliness was swallowing her. Soon, she landed into a deal with an International brand and reached Milan. There she met a handsome, Greek god featured — the British model, fell in love, and settled with him in London. She was elated, being married to the sexiest man of the UK. On the fateful day of Brexit, she announced the pregnancy to her husband and family. Everyone was delighted and exultant.

“This baby in my tummy going to be the most wonderful human being on this planet,” she proudly claimed to her ill father.

After four months of battling leukemia, her father passed away. She came back to Delhi alone for the last rites. Surprisingly, her elder brother, who is a Ph.D. student in MIT School of Witchcraft & Wizardry, came back too. They along with few relatives went to Varanasi for immersing the ashes in the holy Ganges.

“You continue with Puja brother, I am going to explore this city,” she said.

“Fine”, with a big mysterious smile on his face. “Do visit the eastern shore of the Ganges,” he proclaimed.

She first explored a few temples and at last went to the shores of the holy river.

Trembling she stood, her voice choked, cotton-mouthed, after noticing few naked men, open-bizarre haired, wrapped up in ashes eating raw corpses.

“Ghosts!” — she yelled in her high pitched voice. In a split of a second, she came back to her senses. “You uncivilized Cannibals, I have read about you fuckers in my history textbooks. Shame on you, bastards!”

The Aghoris got furious but left owing to their leaders’ signal, except one. He was the oldest among them. He started walking towards her, gawking at her belly unendingly.

“One day, you will kill this baby,” pointing to her belly, the Aghori cursed.

Listening to this, her heart missed a beat. Before she could react — the passerby arrived there to shoo him. She felt a bit relaxed yet scared.

Months passed, her day of delivery came by.

“Our baby will be elegant like you; blue eyes, blonde hair, and my seductive lips, deadly combo,” winked at her husband, while he was just smiling and driving her to the hospital.

“Hold on, Babe, we are about to reach the hospital,” he said in an anxious tone.

“Don’t worry, I am fine,” she said in an uneasy voice.

Finally, she delivered the baby.

After gaining consciousness, she urged to catch a glimpse of her child.

“Your husband has….wait, let me call him”, Nurse quickly went out of the room.

“Let me see my child,” she vehemently said to her husband who just entered the room.

“He is in the cradle, but you take rest,” he said, with tears in his eyes.

“You look dull, wait, let me cheer you up,” she said with an uncanny zeal.

She stood up even in pain, went to the cradle, and froze for 15 minutes in uttermost shock and disbelief.

“What is this?” — she whispered.

“He is our baby, honey, so sorry,” and started sobbing.

She broke down like a child. Her hands were trembling, and her cheeks were burning. It was the kind of pain she never felt before.

“NO”, she yelled her heart out. “This is not our child; this is some monster look-alike creature”. She screamed.

He hugged her tightly. “So sorry babe”.

Both cried together, the entire night.

The baby was suffering from Hypertrichosis (Known as Warewolf syndrome), condition of abnormal hair growth on the body, face. His right hand was deformed, the nose was large and ugly, the head was uneven and his lips were covered with hair.

“This is the ugliest baby I have delivered in the last few decades,” the nurse uttered to her workmate. “Both the parents are beautiful and charming, I don’t know what went wrong.”

She heard their conversation but said nothing.

The family drove home. After some days, the husband again got busy with his modeling work. But the wife avoided going out, not even to Church. Whenever guests used to visit her home, she used to hide with her baby. She was ashamed and later got depressed. Dropped her thriving modeling career.

Three years passed.

She became quiet and un-reactive.

“Babe, let’s go hiking. From next week our child will be going to school. Let’s celebrate,” he said with exuberance.

“No, I don’t want to,” she said in a cold chilling voice.

“Please Mommy, let’s go. I have never stepped out except for monthly hospital visits. Yesterday, Daddy showed me the pictures of the mountain. It will be fun,” Kid exclaimed.

“It’s has been three years honey, C’mon,” he pleaded.

“Okay”, in an undertone voice.

They went to Old Man of Hoy in Northeast Scotland. They set up their picnic spot at the highest sea cliffs.

While eating his favorite grilled cheese hot dog, “Mommy, I want to pee,” said the child.

“Go to the plank of the Cliff,” she mumbled while unzipping his pant.

The kid ran.

She followed him.

Pushed the kid from 450 ft height.

The husband was in utter shock and disbelief.

“You also wanted it, don’t lie”, she chocked.

“You assassinated him,” said while crying. “He was our only child”.

“I can’t help it. Ugliness is a disease, although it doesn’t bother you, it surely does affect me,” she said before breaking down.

They returned home. After a few days, neighbors started enquiring about the child. The couple cooked up a story that he died after his long illness. Everyone believed.

Few months later, she again got pregnant. But this time, nine months passed worrying about the appearance of the child. The baby girl was born — normal, beautiful face, blue eyes, blonde hair; just like her father. The Couple was relieved and happy. They started living a normal life. Years passed.

“Tomorrow is the first day of your school. Daddy has planned fishing as an act of celebration,” he said.

“Thank you, Daddy”, both mother and the daughter said at the same time. And started giggling.

They hired a boat, went to the middle of the lake.

“Hey Kiddo, wanna eat something ?” — she asked.

“Grilled cheese Hot dog,” said in a flash while gazing at the ducks.

“What ?! But…, but…, you have never eaten a hot dog before!”, said in a perplexed tone.

“I have,” said with a malicious grin. And took a pancake out of her hand.

While eating, “Daddy, I need to pee,” she said.

“Yes, princess.”

He took her to the side of the boat, unzipping her frock.

She turned her head. Looked to her dad straight into his blue eyes, and said, with a straight face.

“Daddy, beware, don’t let Mommy push me this time.”

Silence followed.
